  1. The tool that generates the audio images for Freesound is open source and makes pretty pictures 🙂 Although it’s not real-time.

    There are a few real-time sound visualizers like sndpeek extace I heard of.

  2. Well, the images are only part of it – there are a lot of different sound analysis and synthesis stuff I want to try, and new ones will come up as I implement others. So I preferred to have a tool of my own I could easily experiment with.
    I didn’t know about Freesound though – it seems like a very interesting project, I’m definitely going to explore that more in the near future.
